Digger
It is a nationwide public holiday here in Oz today! Is it to commemorate some great battle or a discovery, or something or someone important in our history? No, it's for a horse race! As if we don't have enough public holidays anyway! (14) Melbourne Cup is held this day every year, being the first Tuesday in November and is the culmination of a period of "Spring Races" filled with fashion, Champagne and the "beautiful people" being seen in the right places. The actual horse race is held at Flemington race course on the outskirts of Melbourne our second biggest city, some 300 kilometres from me. What do I think of it? Yawn~
