Adding USB output to my Casino

As the title suggests I'm considering adding a USB output on my Epi Casino or Les Paul or even both.

Is this something that can be done and if so has anyone used it?

I've got Amplitube and Guitar Rig and really love the emulating software. Is it something worthwhile if it can be done?

Les Paul Ultras have a USB already built in, think they may have been a couple of other ultra models as well. Other than that I'm not to sure about after market add ons.

as Johnny 6 String said; the Ultra III and Ultra 399 have these built in. I would look into finding an interface instead. that way you're not doing anything permanent to the guitar. who knows if we'll even be using USB in 10 years or so.

It's a good point. Firewire is a good example of something that could have taken off but USB got there instead. Same as the old VHS / Betamax competition when Betamax was probably better but all gone now to DVD / Bluray.

Midi is a different matter where determining note value from the standard pickup signal is still not accurate enough to replace hexagraph pickups / hexagraphic piezo. The choice there is the Fishman wireless Triple Play or still the Roland 13 pin system to complement whatever hex pickup system you go for. But I don't think the OP is after midi in anycase.
