imbuedblue
Does anyone know where I can find an L5-style tailpiece? I own an Aria Pro II PE-175 Herb Ellis as pictured in the link below. The previous owner replaced the gold L5ish tailpiece with a polished aluminum Bigsby. The rest of the hardware is gold and the mismatch has always bugged me. Anyway, Aria no longer produces this model or tailpiece and I'm after a generic L5 tailpiece to return the guitar to its original overall look. http://www.matsumoku.org/models/ariaproii/catalogs/1979b/79ap2b_pg1_page.jpg.html
L5Larry
I've seen real ones and all degrees of repros pop up on e-bay from time to time. The real ones go for big bucks. Good luck.
ES345
A music store had a beautiful used washburn montgomery, it had been modified with the L5 tailpiece, it had nice setup and was immaculate, it played and sounded wonderful, it is the only used guitar that i have ever bought and if it didn't have the L5 tailpiece i probably would have never even picked it up, and this is as close to an L5 that i will ever get. The guitar tech told me it was a real L5 tail piece, it does the job, looks great, if it is real i got a great deal, if it isn't I couldn't tell the difference anyway.
