Cruznolfart
I had just gotten done with a full-dress presentation with a Highland pipes and drum band I was playing for at the time, when I rushed to an audition for a job with a popular local rock band. I must have been a sight, in my kilt, sporran, etc., readjusting the drum kit to goofy-foot so I could do my bit. I was 16 at the time and not particularly self-assured. But in spite of a few sniggers from the back of the room, I got the gig. And no, I never played rock in a kilt after that.
RichCI
The kilt might have actually helped you to stand out from the rest of the people who auditioned.
