Larsongs
Where to buy Gibson USA P90 for my J-160E? Thanks, Lucky
retrorod
It is the same as any other Gibson P90 with the cover removed. Look on Ebay or other part suppliers at the best price.

There's a story. I bought a 2002 Gibson J-160E new. It is a solid top Montana version. I was told it was a Bozeman Masterbilt. I was under the impression it had a P90. That was how it was represented when I bought it. After all these years I find out it has a P100. I'm thinking if changing to a P90. I love the Guitar but am curious if it will sound better with a P90??? Thanks, Lucky
retrorod
As far as I know, the P100 is a humbucking version of the single coil P90. I don't think you would hear much difference. They are both magnetic pickups in acoustic guitars. if I was looking for a real change I would install a Baggs or K & K system in it and maybe a blend control. Good Luck with your decision. Larsongs
A std Gibson USA P90 will fit without modification other than removing the cover? I would use the the existing Cover Plate from my J-160E P100? Thanks, Lucky

Thanks, Lucky I have swapped P-100's for P-90's a few times. Covers should work, although I can't remember if they are identical or one is taller than the other. But for sure, never remember any problems. For sure the P-90's I have swapped in electrics still used the covers that came with the dreaded P-100.
