JimmyCapo
I own an Epiphone Dot hollow body and am wondering if this type guitar needs the same humidity protection as my acoustics. Comments?
Versatile
Purely personal opinion.... <_< Remember a Dot is a 'semi' and therefore slightly different to a hollow acoustic Ambient temp and humidity play a role....perfect conditions like 50% humidity would not require any additional measures Therefore....recommend assessing conditions Decide if the guitar is to be kept in it's case or out on display.... V PS....Epi finish is Poly vs Gibson's Nitro... So less susceptible to lacquer checks/cracks which can be linked to humidity issues
j45nick
I assume it's a plywood guitar like its Gibson counterpart. These are much less susceptible to changes in humidity, and the wood itself is more stable and less likely to crack with extreme changes in humidity. The finish will expand and contract within the range of movement of the wooden parts, however, so you do see lacquer checking over time, just as with a guitar built of solid woods. duane v
I find my mahogany neck guitar having stability issues more than anything... If I play outside I use my guitars with maple necks..... They seem more stable
