NikolajC Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Hi all, Bought a nice 2008 R7. Plays and sounds great. Some modification has been done to the controls cavity though (made a post in restoration about that), but wonder if any of the other parts has been replaced as well. I would appreciate it if anybody could speak to the authenticity of the pictured parts: Nice guitar (: Does anybody recognize the signature in the controls cavity? Bridge looks legit, I do wonder though why 3 or the saddles are reversed. Usually I only see two? Pickup covers don't look like a traditional aged on. Has it been replaced perhaps? The aging - while nice - doesn't look like the regular aging of an R7. Anybody know if this is custom? The headstock only has the Les Paul signature as a slightly raised black text (don't photograph very well). Almost looks like it's painted over but I refuse to see how somebody would do this. I would appreciate any comments you might have regarding the pictures - at the end of the day it plays and sounds great though. All the best, Nikolaj
capmaster Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Pics would be of better resolution when uploaded to a cloud account and linked here like you did in your pots & caps topic.
NikolajC Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 Thanks capmaster. For some reason this sub-forum didn't allow imgur links, but dropbox seems to work. I have added higher res pictures above. Appreciate any feedback.
NikolajC Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 Just the slightest bump :) - any thoughts on these parts and aging job?
btoth76 Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Hello! Artifical aging process is done by hand, so each and every guitar is different. Even, the examples of the same model are different. Collectors Choice #36 shown: Bence.
NikolajC Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 Thanks Bence, All your examples seem to have these horizontal cracks which mine doesn't. Oh well :)
