philclem
Hi friends, philclem from Italy just registered ! I have purchased an aged historic reissue model 57 les paul. it has 771068 serial number inked in back of headstock and a certificate signed by Tom Murphy. I think it's from 2007. Is this guitar a VOS model or a different (more expensive) model of historic reissue ? Which are differences between a VOS and an aged resissue ? Thank you. Custom Admin
yes, it is a Tom Murphy-aged '57 gold5top from 8/2007. VOS is a very lightly aged patina on the finish and hardware...when tom murphy ages a guitar, it has clearly visible finish cracks, dings, etc as well as the same aged hardware. philclem
it has BurstBucker 1 and 2 and the pots are linear taper. I was pretty sure the guitar has got linears. I don' t like them ! I think I' ll change them with audio CTS, more useful for my taste. But why this choice historically wrong? It' s a strange thing that a- not- correct - historic detail is put into a guitar that would be an "historic reissue" ! I don' t believe Gibson has not good audio taper for its historic collection !
