maruaderguy
Dear Forum, I am wondering if you can help me identify what kind or year of Les Paul this is. It is a sunburst les paul style guitar. It looks like a Gibson, but the binding is extremely thick. And there is no selector switch at the top. This is from Rod Stewarts 1977 'Hot Legs' video. I appreciate the help.
jdgm
It is a Gibson L-5S, an all-maple solidbody. There are 2 or 3 variants of this guitar; the earliest ones had low-impedance pups and a trapeze tailpiece, then the pups were changed to hbs and finally a stop tailpiece replaced the trapeze. Now very desirable and expensive! The most recent variation is the Ronnie Wood L-5S. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson_L5S Pics - https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Gibson+L-5S+images&client=firefox-b&dcr=0&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi20ZrdrLbXAhXK6xoKHUDkBasQsAQIJQ&biw=1920&bih=1091
