Jkremer1 Posted May 3, 2020 Share Posted May 3, 2020 (edited) Hi guys, I just picked up a Les Paul elegant which was listed as a 98, but after receiving it and looking at the serial number CS 9096 I believe it is a 99. Can anyone confirm this? Also the other Les Paul Elegant's I have seen have the Gibson Custom shop Logo at the base of the headstock and mine does not, can anyone shed some light on why it would not? jdgm Posted May 8, 2020 Share Posted May 8, 2020 (edited) I am not an expert but AFAIK the 1st digit of the serial is the year so that would make it the 96th guitar they made in 1999, and possibly they started it at the end of 1998...? Ref the CS logo at base of headstock; I have 2 CS Gibsons, 2004 and 2009 - both have the logo, so maybe they just started putting it on after yours was made. Forum members who know, please correct me if I am wrong! Very nice looker BTW.....and I see you have a Kemper too.
