Fly V for life
I've spent the better part of 8 hours surfing the net trying to decide if I should have my neck reset. Everything I read tells me to only do it as a last resort. On acoustic guitars they sometimes scalp the bridge I'm in the middle of a refinish and it would be very easy to lower the bridge by removing the bridge pieces that are set in the body and route out the body about a 1/8 to a 1/4 of an inch to allow the bridge to sit lower in the body. Does any one have any thoughts on this issue?
L5Larry
Have you double checked your neck relief. A slight truss rod adjustment can bring those string right down. Before you consider anything radical make sure everything else is adjusted properly.
80LPC
What is the height of this 'bad action' ? There are a couple of things you could do before routing the body or re-settng the neck. Consider a refret with taller frets (something in the region of 1.2 / 1.3mm high). Also, you could buy a replacement bridge and remove 1mm from the underside of the bridge on each side allowing it to sit lower. I checked my Nashville, and it could be done. Geff
Im no expert but I would try everything else before making any alterations to the actual wood of the guitar.
