Heiner Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I recently became the proud owner of a 1956 ES 135. These guitars were only in production between 1956 to 1958. Only about 550 were made, which makes this one a scarce one. Gibson would use the ES 135 name in the 90's and on but this is the original ES 135 from the 50's. However, I'm almost certain the tailpiece is NOT original to this guitar. Has anyone seen this type of tailpiece on any other 50's archtop guitars? Quote
cunningham26 Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 You're correct- a replaced tailpiece, but that's not the end of the world. would have come with a standard trapeze tailpiece- you could replace it with a new one, or keep an eye on ebay for a vintage one, for under $100. Congrats- looks sweet! Quote
Asperous Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Could that possibly be a Gibson tailpiece? Maybe not original to that guitar but still a Gibson tailpiece. Feel like I've seen that type somewhere before. Quote
