Vintage or modern ES-335?

I am looking into buying my first Gibson ES-335. I have narrowed it down to 2 local options. The first is a 1976 ES-335TD in red. It is the model with a trapeze tailpiece and the factory coil split switch on the lower horn. The second is a 2005 dot neck, also red. Standard stop tailpiece, a little flame in the wood under the red. Both are in excellent condition. Both being sold by older gentlemen who cared for the instruments. Both play well. All things being equal, which of these instruments would you lean towards and why?

I would probably go for the more traditional spec 2005 Dot.. Unless I was going to put a Bigsby on then I’d go for the one with the Trapeze Tailpiece..

In either case I’d want the one in the best condition, that plays the best & sounds the best.. There’s only one way to judge that.. I’d have to play them both..
