1998 Gibson Les Paul studio with dot inlays

Hi there!

I’ve just scored this scruffy les Paul having had a deal on a melody maker fall through on me. I’m going to pick it up on Saturday morning.
It will be my second ever Gibson, and I’ve not owned one for over 10 years so I’m pretty excited, even though it’s scruffy.

I did quite a lot of reading before buying it to determine authenticity, please if anyone spots anything I didn’t notice I’d love to know before I go and collect it. I bought it knowing that the headstock has a repair to it, and that as stated above its scruffy as all heck.

I think I saw this one on reverb or somewhere - not sure if it’s normal or not but the finish looks quite thick. Almost polyurethane-ish in the way it has chipped to me, but then perhaps they used a lot of plasticisers in the late 90s and a studio with dot inlays sounds odd... having said that I wasn’t around in the 90s so what do I know !

Perhaps double check by having a look at pickups and the electronics if you can?

All I’ve looked at so far is the back of the  pots, all say Gibson.

I know there were 90s studios with dot inlays over trapeze. And I’ve got no idea with the finish, I bought it prepared to refinish it if needed but I quite like it’s shabby-ness. I will try to sneak a peak at the pickups today
