Hype
Was doing some research, for most the holy grail would be a ‘59 LP. Can some one confirm what colors were offered during 1959? I read somewhere that Cherry Burst was the only color. Is this true?
IanHenry
Yes, that's correct for the Les Paul Standard although I understand that some were coloured as "Darkburst's" whereby they used a darker colour than the red to hide any defects in the Maple tops. Some did leave the factory Black as special orders but apparently they just sprayed Black paint over the sunburst!

I know there were the Customs “Black” Beauties. But wait, they just sprayed Black over a Burst? Holy….
