jdgm
Ace jazz guitarist Joe Diorio passed away earlier this month. He was 85. While not a big name, Mr Diorio was well-known in the jazz community and was also a very highly-rated teacher. He was a truly superb guitar player and will be much missed. There is some excellent stuff on youtube: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=joe+diorio+youtube Drummer Sandy Nelson - a name from childhood - passed away on Feb 14th. He was 83. I am sure that "Teen Beat" and "Let There Be Drums" are familiar titles to older forum members. Both were part of the early 1960s prototype rock/pop soundtrack on our transistor radios. Despite a catastrophic car accident in 1963 which resulted in serious injuries, Sandy Nelson continued to record and play drum-oriented albums and recordings. It is said that he was Keith Moon's original inspiration. Also recently; Betty Davis, Syl Johnson and drummer Howard Grimes - all important/influential figures in funk, blues and soul music - have gone. R.I.P.
