stokes
2 questions here. Will a pickguard for the J 200 fit a J 150? What is the safest way to remove the original pickguard? The previous owner rubbed off most of the white pattern because he didnt like the overall pattern. While I dont care for the image on the original it sure looks worse the way he erased some of it. I think so, I just googled J150 to refresh the memory banks, found one on Reverb, with what looks like a J200 style pg Gibson J-150 1999 - 2005 | Reverb about removing, Most of the time a hair dryer is used to soften the adhesive on the PG (which in modern days is double sided 3m tape) then Naptha is used to remove any residue left on the top. Bet there are some YT videos out there that goes step by step. Edited January 3, 2023 by kidblast
stokes
Thought about the heat thing, but wasnt sure how the heat might affect the plastic or the actual finish on the top. As to the fit, I have read that the 150 is the no frills version of the 200 and just wanted to get other opinions from you guys as to if it is the same pick guard. I would prefer no pick guard, but I am pretty sure there will be too big a difference in the finish under the pick guard.
stokes
Old pick guard came off easy enough, was able to get the plastic scraper under it with no heat and squirted a little lighter fluid under it and it came off like a banana peel, halfway thru I gave it a second squirt and it was off. New pick guard is a bit smaller than orig but it still looks much better that that flowered monstrosity Gibson put on it.
stokes
So I went back to the web site I got the pg for a J-200. First time I missed the link that showed the template for the guard you order. Found that the replacement for the J-100 is a match for the J-150. Ordered that one, oh well, live and learn.
