rdbruce
I have a 1933 L7 that I am trying to confirm what are the original pickguard dimensions. The 1933 L7 is slightly smaller (16" lower bout) vs the 1934 and onwards L7 guitars (17" lower bout). Since the original pickguard on my guitar was removed many, many years ago, I have no reference and I would like to get a repro but have not found any site that specifically offers a pickguard for the smaller 1933 version. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Dave F
I took a snapshot of this video that claims it's an original pick guard. It may help you. Plus the opening shot of the video.
Dave F
Here's a 1" grid (based on the lower bout being 16"). Pickguard looks to be 10+" long, 3.5" wide at lower and about 1.5" at top with white binding. Good luck hunting. rdbruce
Dave, Thanks so much for your help!! With the dimensions confirmed I can now find what I need. I have also learned a clever trick on how to confirm dimensions off a photo, so thanks for that too.
Dave F
I did a quick look and a lot of the L5 bound guards look the same shape but look to be about a half inch wider which makes sense for a 17” guitar
