12 volt vs. 9 volt

Yeah - it's an old trick, especially with the overdrive/distortion/fuzz breed of pedals.

Seems to improve the sound and lower the noise - though you may have to adjust settings to accommodate.

Unlikely to do harm to anything, only grey area is some pedals have a zener protecting the DC in - in which case you will get no benefit other than a slightly warm diode.

Give it a whirl - you might like the result.

Pardon the music related question, but do any of you run 12v power supplies into your pedals that are designed for 9v? The power supply for my tube screamer just crapped out, and before buying a new one, I wanted to get some opinions...Thanks

One of the mods on my TS808 was to have it use 12v in stead of 9.

I find it simply sounds better. The sound has more of a "pop" to it.

Another option they offered was a different coloured on/off light. I choose green, and becasue of the 12v

juice flowing through it its very bright!
