These are two stories appearing in the ODD SPOT section of a Melbourne newspaper in the last two days. The Age Sat 30 May An American man spent the Memorial Day public holiday in jail after dialling 911 to complain that a McDonald's worker was rude and didn't give him the orange juice he ordered. Raibin Osman of Oregon was accused of improper use of the emergency telephone number. ;) The Age Fri 29 May A 31-year-old man arrested in Boulder, Colorado, for slashing the tyres of nearly 50 vehicles blamed it all on his mother, nuclear radiation from the former Rocky Flats weapons plant nearby and the fact that he was made to wear braces on his teeth in the 1990s. Everytime someone fronts a court in this country for a serious crime, their lawyer claims their client suffers from a history of depression and abuse as a child. The fact that they think the judicial system will even entertain crap like this on crimes like murder is an indictment and a total insult to the victims of crime.
