jalexquijano
What guitars did Jeff Beck used to record Blow by Blow album back in 1975? What his main gear for that album? Any idea of the pickup brand and wiring configuration. Really interesting tone and technique
Thin_Lizzy
The Les Paul was a 1954 Goldtop, which he bought in 1972. He got it refinished in a dark brown colour called ox-blood and changed the P90s to humbuckers.
RJLII
Not to wreck anyones buzz, but I've read a number of times that the majority of that album was recorded with what he called a "Tele-Gib", an old Telecaster that had PAF Humbuckers installed by Seymour Duncan. I know for sure that "'cause we've ended as lovers" was recorded with that guitar. Here's a link to a piece by Seymour that spells it out. http://www.ainian.com/jb4.html
Thin_Lizzy
He used the Tele-Gib on "Cause we ended as Lovers" as he could uses his volume and tone techique on it, which he couldn't do on the LP. I was fortunate enough to meet Jeff a few years ago. He told me he recorded the Truth album in 4 days and said Rod sang well on it.
