MapleManiac
I've never replaced tuners in my life. Would I just need a screwdriver and that's it?
MapleManiac
I meant these specifically--since they sound like they are the best tuners. Eddie Rondack
Looks like the screw's in the wrong place... what are you replacing?
G McBride
I replaced tuners once in my life. I replaced the tuners on an old Citation acoustic. I messed up the wood on the front of the headstock by trying to open the hole up using a hand drill instead of waiting until I could pick up a hand reamer to do the job correctly. It is a very simple job if you have the proper tools. If you don't have the tools, pay someone that does have the tools and skills and you will be money ahead. ryanfender
Here is a thread from the AGF where a guy replaced the Grovers on his older Taylor with Gotoh 510s. He used a specific part number. http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149822&highlight=gotoh Here is the part number he used. Note that the holes are straight down rather than offset. He used these: To replace these:
ryanfender
I did want to add that even though I think this conversion is pretty easy, I don't think Gotoh 510s would look right on a J-45.
