There are some 60s doves on ebay and I've always been curious as to how it would sound. I have an MC Dove... would they sound pretty close? Despite that, I nevertheless encountered a mid-60s J-200 a couple of years ago that 'bout near knocked my socks off, it sounded so good! So, yeah, they are not a necessarily good tonal design, but there are exceptions, it would seem. Best to play and try and then decide.
