jaxson50
I remember going to Veterans Day parades with my parents when I was a kid, my dad served in both WWII and Korea. When the group of WWI Veterans walked past in their old worn uniforms, dad said take a good look son, those are real heroes...I didn't understand, dad was a hero to me, but he was part of a long tradition, each generation standing on the shoulders of the last, reaching back to the very begin of this nation. So there you have it, from one generation to the next, it has always been that way I guess. I see that there is one US WWI Vet still alive, Frank Buckles of West Virginia, our WWII and Korean Vet's are becoming fewer and fewer, and the youngest Vietnam Veterans are quickly reaching retirement age. It is appropriate that we honor them all, from each and every war this nation has asked it's people to support. Men and women have always answered the call, and I pray, always will. I can think of no other group that deserves more. They humble us all by their sacrifice.
KSG_Standard
Nice post! I agree, thank you to our vets. My dad served in the USAF from 1947-1954, his brother in Vietnam. It's good that we've had men who were willing to serve the country, and it's good to know that we still have men and women willing to serve now.
