roadhog96
Is there a way to find out what type, Linear or Audio taper pots are used in the Les Paul 68 Custom. Also should it have the long or short shaft pots? Thanks!

roadhog96
Are they suppose to be short or long shaft pots? Also is there anyway you can ask an engineer why Gibson uses LINEAR instead of AUDIO LOGARITHMIC taper. I have done a lot of research on this subject and everything I read says that because our ears respond to the amplitudes of sound, as a LOGARITHMIC function of the sound pressure level, and the use of a LOGARITHMIC potentiometer as a volume control, will allow us to adjust the volume, to match our perception, of the strength of the sound we hear. Custom Admin
they are long shaft, and they are linear because the pots we sent to CTS to spec out (from an original burst) and replicate were linear...
roadhog96
Do the pots use a heavy carbon or silk-screening resistance path? Are the tone pots Linear also?
Custom Admin
i am told that our CTS pots have an actual carbon element, and that our "standard" pots have a screen-printed carbon strip.
