when did Gibson switch to white inside their hardcases?

I first saw it in 2006.

 

There were issues with some of their white guitars being stained by the purple (or black) liners before they even arrived at the dealers, they even resorted to wrapping some of them in paper before putting them in the case for shipment. I'm certain the white was to combat that, though I don't know when it actually began.

Interesting Neo. My 2009 Les Paul Traditional case is starting to go brown/yellow inside already, from my LP Gold Top. So the guitar is OK, but the case is wearing the brunt.

 

I guess that is better than the other way around.
