AlanC
I have just bought my first acoustic archtop. With my electric archtops I use D'Addario flat wounds (12's) which sound great. However what do you recommend I use for an acoustic f hole??
L5Larry
I have used D'Addario "Chromes" 13-56 flats with very good results. I have used them on a 50's Silvertone, a 40's L-7 and on an old L-5. On the Gibsons, I currently use LaBella Black Nylon Tape Wound 14-67 (#800M). These strings are certainally not for everyone, but if your looking for that 40's big band sound you might want to give them a try.
AlanC
Thanks L5Larry and glad to get your views as I had recollected that you had an L7 and was interested in what you were using on it. I really like the D'Addario Chromes on my archtop electrics and I enjoy the sound even when I'm not going thru an amp. I just wasn't sure whether it was possible to get a significant improvement by using acoustic rather than electric strings. I'm always looking for the warm mellow sound even on acoustics! I think that you'd enjoy the L10 I'm about to own. It's a real little gem!!

L5Larry
OK, try the LaBellas. PM me, I'll send you a set (I get tham a half price). If you don't like them, then pay me for them! If you DO like them, give a good revue here on the "compost".
