True, but the sensation of speed is cooler the closer you get to the ground. I've been Mach 1.4 and it's no big deal, actually really anticlimactic. Now doing 120 knots at 10 feet is a real hoot. I love taking jet guys out for their first helo ride. Ever see a 6 ft 3 in 230 lb Marine fighter pilot wimper? Not a pretty sight, but funny as hell. Particularly when you come to an abrupt stop.
