Texas58
Can Anyone here tell me the difference between the Burstbucker Pro and Burstbucker 3 Pickups? I have a 2007 Double Cutaway LP Heratige Top Cherry Sunburst Flametop that has Butstbucker Pros. Albeit, the pickups are very powerful , almost too powerful, but still very nice sounding. The tone at times seems a bit bright so I am thinking of just replacing the capacitor with a Bumblebee, Black Beauty, Grey Tiger or Pink Lady to curb some of the edge. Either that or replace it with another Burstbucker. Any suggestions? .... decisions ... decisions .... Thanks ... Hugo
Texas58
I finally got around to figuring his out. The Burstbucker Pros are Potted with Alnico V Magnets. The Type 3 Burstbucker has AlnicoII magnets and is not Potted. Thanks
Riffster
Glad you figured it out, other capacitor options are whatever RS Guitarworks sells and Mullard Tropical fish caps.
Texas58
This morning morning I replaced the capacitor with a .022 Sprague Black Beauty. It seems to have removed some of the bright edge giving it more of a ZZTopish Allman Bros tone which is cool. Nice and warm with an rude aggressive blues bite. It definitly merits further experimentation and exploitation. HR
Riffster
Yea, some guys have bought a couple of small alligator clips and try cap after cap, that way there is no soldering until you get the one you like.
tom brown
what i did was adjust the pickup height to take a bit of that sharpness off...I have a les paul vm so i get nice acoustics with the pickups lower dur the the chambered body....
