what is the difference between the

es 335 dot figured gloss

and

es 335 dot plain gloss

 

is it just the kind of gloss on the guitar?

 

and also the 1963 es 335 block

does it mean it has a block in the middle of the body for the feedback problem?

or is it just the inlay

Its not the gloss, it is the pattern or grain on the wood that is used.

 

The figured gloss just has a more detailed (ie figured) and some might say, interesting, wood grain as its top. i.e. it has a more interesting, detailed and prominent wood grain which comes through more prominently.

 

I have a plain top, but you can still see some interest and grain in the top, just not as much.

 

Just like some of the more figured Les Pauls.

 

Of course, you pay a little bit more for the rarer piece of wood.
