Artie Owl
Hey Guys and Gals, Have you ever been playing, doing lessons, or looking through tabs and find yourself unable to make it through the whole thing because your attention wanders? What do you do when you just can't seem to get out of playing the same thing in the same key over and over again? How do you break the funk? What Kind of break-throughs opened up new avenues of playing for you? New gear, new pedal, new friend to jam with? Me? Lately I feel stuck on the blues and minor pentatonic scales when I'm just noodling around, which isn't bad but it isn't exactly worthy of recording either. ChanMan
I just keep playing through it. I figure it's my subconcious trying to tell me there is something else there. Try riff farming, or playing to a different timing signature. For the record, LOTS of my "best stuff" comes when I'm trying to nail something and wander off..... :-
Artie Owl
Good response, I haven't used my metronome near as much as I should lately, I'll give that a try. I also like capoing off at A or B flat or D and seeing where that'll take me, I find that helps me anyway.

Rocky4
Buy a pedal. A flanger os phaser or whatever, might make things interesting during your lull.
