sooner777
Hello Everyone. I just bought an SJ-200 and love it! I am a little confused with all of the different models. The Tag inside my guitar says simply SJ-200. The serial # is 02558013 which makes it an '08 model I guess. It has Gold Grover tuning keys, two inlays in the bridge, and has the pickup that just has the volume control inside the sound hole. I'm not sure exactly what this is with all of the different models. It was bought new (never sold before anyway) from Best Buy Music for $2100. They knew nothing about this guitar. It seemed like too good of a deal to pass up. Someone tell me I was right so I can show my wife!!!! Thanks for any help.
BigKahune
Welcome. Congrats on yer new SJ-200. That would be a 2008 SJ-200 Modern Classic. Good price, the MSRP was $4603 and the MAP was around $3,249. You paid less then I've seen some used ones go for. I also have one and I absolutely love it. It's the same as a 2010 SJ-200 Standard (which has now replaced the MC) except, as you mentioned, the MC has two MOP bar inlays on the bridge (instead of 4) and a L.R. Baggs Element active pickup system (instead of a Fishman Ellipse Aura). Here's an article on them - http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/ProductSpotlight/GearAndInstruments/True%20Vintage%20and%20Modern%20Classi/ How about posting some pics? sooner777
Thanks very much. That was exactly the info I was wondering about. I am in love with this guitar so far. The Taylor 814 will stay in the case for a while.... you can hear the wood so much more with this guitar it's amazing. I'll post some pics tomorrow for sure,,,, Thanks again
