lord george Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Seen this for sale on craigslist : http://london.craigslist.co.uk/msg/1739385898.html 1959 les paul for £3700. After an enquiry this was the email I received The total price will be 3700 pounds with shipping and insurance included.I will pay half of the shipping fees. The serial number is 9 2088. You can come to collect in Aberdeen or I can ship the guitra to you. I prefer you will use bank transfer to send me the payment. After you receive the guitar you will have 30 days to test it and if it's not like I said you will get all your money back. Let me know if we have a deal. the whole idea of a bank transfer makes me 99% sure its a scam, but any other opinions would be a great help. the man told me the serial number is 92088
tvguit Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I'm new here, but here is my 2 cents, or pence I guess. I would think it is a scam. I always ask if I could meet up and see the guitar in person. If he says no, there is your answer.
LarryUK Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I'd be wary. I'd collect and pay cash. Try the guitar. Take the backplates off and check the electrics. Contact Gibson to check the serial no. Take pics of the seller tc.
vincentw Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Before purchasing I recommend emailing comprehensive photos to service@gibson.com. There are certain minor characteristics of the 50s Les Paul Customs that can help determine if the guitar in the photos is consistent with the 50s era LP Customs. But of course that still does not guarantee that this is not a scam....bank transfer?
