To be sure, tell me if the cap over the truss road touch the nut or not. If yes, it's a 95 (old specification of R9) if not it's a 2005 (new specification and more accurate since most of the original model were like that but sometimes the cap touched the nut all the same). Raptor Posted January 26, 2008 Share Posted January 26, 2008 Either post your serial number in the Custom Shop area of these forums http://forums.gibson.com/Default.aspx?g=topics&f=66 or call Gibson at 1-800-4-GIBSON It could be either a 95 or 05, but you better know what finish you have, because if there was one issued from each year that might be the only difference. Assuming the guitar is 100% original, open the control cavity and look at the capacitors (caps). They are soldered between the volume and tone pots. If they are little tan discs then it is a 95.
