Does the Blues Custom run "Single-Ended" in Class A mode?

Does the Blues Custom run "Single-Ended" in Class A mode? Or is it push-pull in class A? I assume its single ended because in Class AB it uses both tubes at 30W but class A uses only 15W so I assume it only uses one tube but maybe I'm wrong.

Nope. That's actually just a pentode/triode switch. So it's not really class A at all, and triode mode is a whole 'nother thing anyway. Whatever pencil pusher was in charge of labeling that amp doesn't have a clue about amps and probably doesn't even play guitar. If the one labeled volume acts like a volume knob, consider yourself lucky.

This is the response I got from Gibson customer service.

----

Hello,

In the Pentode mode (30 watts) the amp is Class AB push/ pull; in the Triode mode (15 watts) the amp is Class A single ended.

Thanks.

Best regards,

Bob Burns

When the Epiphone Blues Custom is operating in Class A mode is it running push-pull or single-ended?

  • 4 weeks later...

Its definately running in Class A if not mine is going to cook

the output tubes because they are running in a full class A mode.

Thats why it also has the fan in the back because when its running

in class A the tubes are producing more heat.
