Masterbuilts & Other Nostalgia

As somebody who's had acoustics since James Taylor hit the airwaves, I think the Masterbuilts are the best-sounding acoustics I've played. What a nice line of guitars! I haven't plugged in any of the

EQ'd versions, but those guitars sound and play great. I think Epiphone is really on the fast-track with both the Masterbuilts and Elitist models. Probably the best product from them, since the ES-330 Casinos that a many of my friends carried around in the 70s. (Remember those? Or am I the only one here, old-enough to remember those sunburst 330s?) Wonder where Al Caiola is thesedays?

As someone who's had acoustics since before the Beatles even signed James Taylor in the first place, I have a slightly different opinion of the Masterbilts but that's why there are a lot of choices in life, so everyone can find theirs....and yeah, those ES-330's *and* Casinos were pretty cool guitars and yes, I like the sunburst Casinos the best..both of mine are sunbursts but I think if I were to seek out one of those ES-330's I'd have to have one in sparkling burgundy. I also don't think you're going to have too much trouble finding kids your age here. There's some pretty old farts hanging out here. I believe Al Caiola is alive and well and living in JerryMac's music room over in the electric section...though his physical body is elsewhere and must now be pushing ninety... Al is, not Jerry... Welcome to the madness... is that an FT-85 Serenader in your avatar photo?

...and Al's your uncle.

Iconoclast......no, that's a 60s vintage "Epiphone Bard" model, 12-string that I bought used in the early 70s. That guitar hasn't been adjusted since the 70s and plays as nicely as the day I got it.

I did have to replace a part or two on it, but what a great guitar. No, Al's not my Uncle, I just remember the model that carried his name, a LONG time ago. And yep, a red (burgundy) 330, is every bit as pretty as a sunburst one. Too bad, in the 70s I bought a Fender Coronado instead of

a 330. What a dope! But thankfully, I traded that for a new '70 Tele, even-up, which today is worth $5-7K, depending on who's numbers you believe.
