stereohigh
A lot of the epiphone listings on ebay keep mentioning how many fakes are out there, how do I spot an Epi fake. This one reads like a fake but may well be genuine - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320224887069&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=

Having no money has nothing to do with being cheap. I have to save a whole year to buy a new "cheap" Epiphone. You know how hard it becomes NOT to buy that Epi-clone? stereohigh
I was actually just looking at how much a secondhand one would be, and seeing if there were any older versions of the guitars, as some suggest the older epiphones are better. I am in the uk myself, and locally at least the dealers are just not that good, and by getting prices from ebay and then calling stores I managed to save a lot of money on my Fender and I still managed to get it from a store with two full tech set ups done by very good luthier, so it pays to do your homework on these things I find. I have just stumbled on that mymusia site, wow weird scenes inside the goldmine.

stereohigh
According to an article I just read, some very unscrupulous sellers in America were buying the Gibson fakes and then selling them as genuine in their shops, now thats outrageous
Ricochet
TNX for the link Tukinator...very informing. What worries me is the ebay dude refers to "the guitardater project" to check the serial for authenticity...

Maybe you could get some direction from him.

Sorry, Gails, but some of us don't have cash falling out of our ears... I've gotten a lot of great deals on eBay... Most notably, my Casino, which is gorgeous and flawless and cost me $540 with a HSC... MF won't match that... And if they do, it'll probably show up broken.. You just have to know how to avoid the pitfalls on eBay..
