kgrove85
Hi, does anyone have any experience with using a Valve junior half stack with a lap steel guitar?
Steven Lister
Not I. Slide, yes..., I'm still learning but I prefer clean tones for slide (same is probably true for pedal steel?), and the best cleans with my V3 VJr. stack are had using a POD. The F*nd*r models of the '59 Bassman & '64 blackface Deluxe Reverb are tops. V3 alone may be on the dirty side for the crispness of a steel but the tube tone is/will be tremendous. WELCOME to the forum kgrove! Good question -- I'm curious also to hear from the pro's with 1st hand experience. Hit every BLUE NOTE baaaby..., I'm going to slide on:-"
Ricochet
Hi' date=' does anyone have any experience with using a Valve junior half stack with a lap steel guitar? [/quote'] I don't have a working lap-steel at the mo... but I reckon any guitar amp will do for a beginner. If you're looking at a pro setup I'd be looking at something higher powered to keep the tone clean. (Fender Twin, Bassman etc) If your interested in the VJ from a budget point of view I'd consider doing a Fender mod with some 5751 tubes for a bit more sparkly clean. m-theory
My favorite slide tones are greasy as hell. I really don't care for clean slide all that much myself. The Vjr works great for slide, imo, although it's a bit puny on the output for viable stage use in most situations.
