msl1091281734100
hey Folks -- I still have the factory strings on my Revolution -- would like to try flatwounds -- any recommendations? I believe 10-42's are stock and what I have at the moment are D'Addario "chromes," 10-48. I was told they're flatwounds. Any idea if I'll need to tweak the trussrod? Should I use one of the boutique string brands like the one beginning with a P?
charlie brown
Thomastik-Infeld, or Pyramids! Both make excellent "Flat Wound" strings. CB
Ron G
I just started using D'Addario Chromes 10's on my Dot. The string tension on these are greater than the roundwound 10's I was using before, D'Addario EXL110W. The trussrod may need an adjustment but not necessarily. Put them on, let the neck settle for a day or two, and then check the neck relief. And, by the way, I really like the Chromes, especially tone-wise. I'll probably be trying other flats in the future, to see which ones I like best.
msl1091281734100
Thanks folks -- I may try the other brands mentioned before the chromes only because they are lighter gauge and might not necesitate an adjustment -- the neck is perfect where it is at the moment.
