TehLesPaulZorz
how a Classic '57 in the neck and a Burstbucker Pro in the Bridge would sound? I'm looking for an early Zeppelin tone as a basis. Or should I just go with the Hot Rodded Humbucker Set? Anyone ever try this combo? I've never combined a V with a II
charlie brown
"Early" Led Zeppelin was a "Telecaster!" LZ I and a lot of LZ II. Stage set ups, too...were not always the same as what they used to record, with. I don't think swapping pickups, for this or that version is going to get you there. Technique, phrasing, and...if anything, amp tone will do more. But, that's just "my" opinion, so take it for what you will. And, good luck, in your tone quest! I understand the feeling, believe me! TehLesPaulZorz
Thanks CB, I see what you mean. But otherwise, regardless of the Zeppelin thing, how would a BB Pro and a Classic work? Anyone tried something like this before? Sounds interesting. I also would like to swap maybe for a SD Hot Rodded Set
Burstbucker1281734065
I guess it depends on the sound for which you are looking; CB is right about the tele and zep. I put a BB pro in my epi LP and it sound great for heavier rock. I also put a '57 classic in my Wilshire re-issue and absolutely love the sound. Neither sounds like the other. The BB pro is far more "edgy" and has a lot higher output that the '57, but the '57 has that wonderful creamy smooth sound that makes it unique on its own. That willy rings like a bell on solos and 60's music.
