versatility of epiphone elitist casino

i know that the casino is a hollowbody not a semihollow guitar and produces a lot of feedback when given a lot of gain.

but can the casino play metal ranging from metallica to slipknot?

can someone with a casino post a video of the casino to be played in high distortion pedals(ds1,mt2)?

this is just a question i am not a metal player.

just checking the versatility of the casino.

and a side question..if the stop bar tailpiece of the dot is removed will there be any marks or holes on the area where the tailpiece used to be because i wanted to put a frequensator on the dot.

thanks.

Mate, can't answer your question about casino, but c'mon, do you think stopbar is holding on st spirit? Of course there are holes, and pretty big ones cause tension of the strings requires quite a strenght of tailpiece.

There's a picture of how it looks before putting on bigsby:

oh... so the holes are covered with metal.i thought there were gonna be see thru holes which kinda makes it ugly.

oh and btw twiggy whats the tape for on your guitar?so im just going have to drill holes onto the dot to mount the frequensator.in this case ,do i have to cover the holes with metal as well ?

I don't know about the casino specifically, but I used to have an ibanez artcore hollowbody, with a little thicker body, and I played it in my old hard rock/"metal-ish" band through my old Behringer v-amp rig with no problems, and it sounded great. Main thing is to make sure you have a noise gate of some kind in effect, because a hollowbody will tend to feed back much easier than a solid or semihollow body when you are not playing. When I switched to the Mesa Roadster, the feedback was a serious issue until I got a boss ns-2 noise suppressor pedal. That helped a lot, but it would still feed back occasionally on the high gain channel. If you have a mute you can hit, or at least a clean channel, you should be okay. The sound is huge, but the feedback potential can make it too unpredictable to use on a regular basis.

=; I was putting bigsby on it, so tape was everywhere while trying to measure absolute centre of guitar as my end pin was a bit off centre and couldn't be used for directions [-( And yes, if you don't like (i hope you don't actualy) open holes you'll need to cover them somehow. ^^ I've said it before, but that is a bloody lovely looking guitar!

@ Aminaziz: Of all the big body Epiphones, the Casino isn't the most versatile. The dot or sheraton will give better results for heavy rock.... the fully hollow bodies will feed back at high gain settings. But even so, the dot and sheri will feed back at some point.

Having said that, if I was into really heavy rock, I wouldn't buy anything other than a solid. There's a good reason why Slash et al play solid bodies!

To answer the question: Will the casino play Metal? It most certainly will... but of course at some point it will feed back. Which begs the question.... why would you want it to?

And just as importantly, any guitar will play "slipknot" to an extent, just as any guitar will play Simon and Garfunkel. It's limited by the amp, and also the player. So the band doesn't matter.

wow twiggy that is a really nice guitar.is it an elitist?

im not going to get a casino now this is just a question im getting a dot.cool so the casino can play metal.that means it is versatile enough.just wanna try something different.i might get one in the future not for metal of course.

but how do you mount the bigsby?is it by drilling more holes on the bottom?is it the same with a frequensator?sorry for asking so many questions.im still a noob.

No mate, just regurlar dot. And yeah, you need to drill extra holes, so it's a question how much you want it cause there comes two extra holes on the top and depending on the model three or four at the back. I assume frequensator would take as well at least couple of holes at the back so it's process which can't be undone.

thanks twiggy.ok one laaast pack of questions twiggy....what tuners did your dot came with, is it grovers?or just regular tuners.do they stay in tune regularly?i was thinking about the elitist but heck if the regular dot is allright then that will save me some cash if it sounds as good as the elitist.i heard the sound of the regular dot is kinda equal to the gibson es335.

No mate, it's not equal at all. At the time of purchase, I asked those lads in the store to let me try 335 and I almost left me dot in there.... Trust me 335 has that something, that dot lacks off. Well i'll see how close I can get to it with set of '57 classics and whole electronics upgrade that is coming really soon + I'm keeping in mind varitone option too. And yeah, it came with grovers. Have no complaints at all. Talking bout staying in tune it really depends how you use bigsby. If it's just light pitch change it stays absolute fine, if doing quite a vibro and longer it will go out of tune but that does not bother me at all. I don't really mind tuning it even after every song cause that takes just a second so...

And i've got roller bridge installed. Didn't notice any difference to be honnest

no worries mate, It's not as hard as you think. A bit of patience and that's all I need. (well and new pickups lol ). As I mentioned earlier I'd like to try varitone, so was thinking to solder it on while electronics will be out and try somehow before drilling one more hole on me beauty :-k

short correction mate, I already got it, it's stuck in states as I'm from UK and those guitars are never gonna come here. Hopefully by christmas it will be home. And mate old rivieras are absolutely different as they have minihums and new one got three p90's. I wanted to have guitar with p90s as mine are all humbucker ones. After that the one i'm missing just minihums so older riviera most likely will come across sooner or later
