I was only trying to emphasize the fact that changing an instrument that most of us on this forum would love to have in it's original condition, was not such a good idea. But, I understand that he is the owner is this beautiful instrument. He can do what he pleases.

 

I response to his original ???. What about using P100's in it. That way, you can keep the original look of the guitar.

G zero, Thanks for the defense, I'm not trying to offend anyone. rpach, I do have a clue, a guitar is to played, not just be hung on the wall like a freaken picture. We play em, we twink em, sometimes we destroy em, but most of all we love em, sometimes more than anything. Good bye all and thanks for the suggestions.

man, i always shied away from duncan custom shop pups because of the sticker shock. for under $100 a pop, i might be inclined to give one or two a shot. still pricey, but not crazy.

 

also, somewhere on you tube, there is a vid of a guy installing a floyd rose one a gypsy jazz guitar.

 

as for modding an elitist, i have and would do so again. but i keep all the original parts, just in case. then again, i haven't pulled off anything that drastic (yet); not that i wouldn't. and i always wanna when i see an old guitar on ebay with stupid, irreversible mods. but that's what keeps the prices down. :-k/

Yeah, they're pricey since they're custom-order. http://www.curtisnovak.com may be a bit cheaper if you want to go that route.

 

A alternative would be to fit a mini-humbucker or a firebird-PU in a dogear yourself.
