allportpink Posted December 22, 2008 Share Posted December 22, 2008 Hey, So I bought the Zakk Wylde EMG set (81/85) and installed them yesterday, got all excited and everything, but nothing happened... I think the problem may be with my epiphone les paul custom, it's really strange because on the EMG diagram, it shows a red, white, black, and a braided wire coming from the pickup selector switch (3way), whereas on my epiphone, the wires coming from the pickups selector switchgo into a small white plastric terminal and come out as red, orange and blue wires, with 2 metal wire bits coming out of the blue and the orange wire. please could anybody help me, it would be greatly appreciated. layboomo Posted December 22, 2008 Share Posted December 22, 2008 You are aware that the EMG's are active pickups and require a 9V battery right?? Just do it like this http://www.emgpickups.com/downloads/wiringdiagrams/EMG-ZWset.pdf . You also have to use special value pots that come in their kit. Did you buy the whole kit or just the pickups?
