cGil Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Sure. We do Crates. Log in over at www.sewatt.com You'll find discussion of it and schematics in the Crate section's "Crate Overhaul" thread, as well as in the Octal One section's "Octal One with 6U8..." thread. I have an old Crate VC508 that I had originally modded to use a JRC4558 opamp. The factory stock VJr still blew it out of the water. So, I recently did a scratch rebuild on it using a 6U8 pentode/triode tube for the preamp, and a mini 7-pin 6AQ5/EL90 for the power tube. The tone is so now freekin' good that I haven't wanted to play my modded VJr's since I got this Crate project running. BTW, I even chopped my Crate combo in half and turned it into a head cab. Plenty of pics available on SEwatt. Gil...
