SlagJones
After a 2nd look today' date=' I'm even more convinced that the one in question is 100% Epi -- not a good one, but an authorized one. [/quote'] As much as I hope you are wrong, a nagging feeling tells me you are right. If it real Epi, that's just horrible. Diamond inlay wrong, tuner alignment wrong, trc looks wrong, binding looks wrong, even the location of the limited edition stamp looks wrong. Even a year ago, the most knowledgeable on this forum would have called it a fake, no doubt. If this is what Epi is putting out at increased prices, I am probably done with Epi. Geez is anything before 2007 a vintage year for Epiphone??? My level of pride and trust for the brand is fading fast.
brianh
If it's a fake it's a very convincing one. The inlay is touching the truss rod cover, but really only a few millimeters difference from what it looks like on MF:
brianh
PS, while were chatting, the bids just went from $480 to $610. MF current price for an Epi LP Custom is $699 without case. I'd bet that it sells for over MF + case price. eBayers are idiots.

Granted, they are only very subtle differences but to my amateur eye, they stick out like a sore thumb. A millimeter here a millimeter there but taking everything together as a whole, it just doesn't seem right. Even the Epiphone inlay looks different in its alignment. I have said my peace. I think it's fake and if it isn't it is a VERY POOR representation of what Epiphone is capable of producing or has produced even a few years ago. If it's real Epi should be ashamed to let it out of the door.

OK OK, I don't know what to think anymore. I guess the moral to the story is see it and get it in your hands in person and buy from an authorized dealer if you want to be sure it's not fake but it still doesn't guarantee real quality tho...
