Epiphone Casino pots

Does anyone know what pots are in the Epi Casino 250k? 500? I´ve tried with a mirrow through the f-hole but can´t see what it says.

My neck PU sounds dark and bassy so I´m thinking of maybe change the pots to get more treble in the sound.

If I do it should I do it with both?

I´ve tried to raise the PU (it gave a little more volume)

I´ve tried to raise the poles (Didn´t make any difference)

How does the Kent Armstrong p90 sound? are they good?

Thanks

Ian

go with 500K. And just upgrade the brand. I use 500K with my p90s.. plenty of bite.

I use Kent Armstrongs and I like them a lot.

the GFS Mean 90, humbuck size p90, is a bit darker.

They might have one that's brighter though, in the regular casino size/type model.

you can also go from .022uF cap to .015uF..on the neck pup tone control, and if it were me I'd do the pots and caps first.

Get a sprague or other good quality caps in it.. with better pots.. and that really should open it up a bit.

I'd swap the whole set.

thanks for the answers

Can you show me a link on ,where to buy good pots, caps.

I´ll have to say that I´m very pleased with my `08 Casino, it plays very well and the bridge position sounds so good, the middle position is also ok. but the neck position isn´t doin it for me. I´ll have to turn almost all the bass of my amp, just to make the sound acceptable. I have a Peavey delta blues 115. great amp for my use. I´ll have a 01´Epiphone wildcat (my fav.) and a Gretsch 5120 both guitars sounds great. So if only I could use my neck Pu in my casino it would be right up there with the wildcat and 5120

thanks

Ian

For what it's worth, I have the exact same trouble with my '08 Casino. But what I found is it may just be your amp being finicky with that guitar and that pickup. My Casino neck pickup sounds perfect in three of my amps, yet in my VOX it sounds like mud. I can't explain it; others have told me that happens sometimes - sometimes an amp and a guitar are just like oil and water, they ain't mixing. Is that pickup's sound unacceptable in other amps?

I was thinking of doing what you may do - change pots and all that - but I fear I may lose the perfect tone that I have with the guitar in my other amps. So here's what I did rather than do all that electronic surgery -- I bought myself an EQ pedal. Whenever I use my neck pickup on my Casino in the VOX amp, I just stomp on my EQ pedal and problems are cleared up, literally.
