1979 Sheraton on Ebay LOL

he even explains his rationale: I am dating this guitar based on information from https://store.bluebookinc.com/info/PDF/EGuitar/ElectricSerializ ation.pdf , page 1128 and the guitar's serial number: 70709### . There is no alpha character in the serial number indicating manufacture in Korea. Not saying it wasn't, but based on the BlueBook info, there is no indication of it.

It`s a Samick made Korean Sheraton, from 87, the Japanese Matsumoku made ones never had "by Gibson" on the h/stock. The Matsumoku`s although similar, were different in the details.

And for those who would like to know what those details are,

1). The first letter "E" on the h/stock should look like a big reverse "3" just like the old Epiphone Masterbilts had.

2). The tuners are Gotoh made Schaller rotomatic copies with Grover kidney bean type buttons, each with a Silver White epsilon "E" on the barrel.

3). The top nut would be bone.

4). The volume and tone knobs are exactly the same as found on the Casino, and not the Amber coloured ones, that are on all the Korean Sheratons.

5). The bridge is a proper Tune-o-matic type, with Japan stamped underneath it(you only find the wider bridge on the Korean guitars).

6). The Matsumoku`s carried a Gold stamped 7 digit serial on the back of the h/stock, whereas the early Samicks used a sticker.

7). The Matsumoku made Sheratons usually carry a rectangular Tan (with Brown splotches)label in the upper f hole, the Korean ones don`t.

8). The neck laminations on the Matsumoku`s go the full length of the neck (including the heel!)

Hopefully this will help anyone on the hunt for an early 80`s Japanese Sheraton.

Yeah I saw that and was going to bid....

i put in my highest bid, but the seller, a consignment shop yanked it because the buyer had second thoughts about selling it

i sent him a pm and asked him if he changed his mind to contact me, but he never responded
