atkinsg Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Hi Everyone I just picked up this 1999 epiphone les paul limited edition birdseye in excellent condition. Does anyone have any informaton on these korean built guitars? The build quality on this guitar is stellar. Were they really a limited edition or is that just a name... the pickups seemed to be ok but I have just change the bridge pickup to the new evh franky humbucker. any information
RobinTheHood Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Limited Edition probably refers to the birdseye maple top and the finish. An LE can be anything that was made in a limited quantity that is not standard for that model and year. Very nice guitar BTW. Dont see too many birdseye tops around here. And the Korean guitars were very good - especially compared to the Chinaphones they make now.
atkinsg Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 I paid $500...based on the quality of the ax I thought it was worth it. bought it from the original owner, even had the original strings on it. boy were they brittle I was quite surprised to find std sized pots when i took the back covers off as i thought all the offshore stuff had the smaller pots...even the switch looks like something out of a usa made gibson. the pickups were original epiphone branded
Guest icantbuyafender Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 That is beautiful. Im stunned. Thats the year of my Limited Edition quilt top LP classic shown in my avatar. The quality is astounding from what i can see!

RotcanX Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Just for the record, the uncovered pickups make it a Les Paul Classic LE. The Saein builds were probably the best for that era, almost on a par with the earlier Samick-made Classics from the early nineties.
