Guest icantbuyafender
Okay, since most bridges with piezo's are made to fit USA tuneomatics, Ghost is my choice since they made 6mm post compatible piezo bridges. The Graphtech is a total of $300+ with a preamp... geez. Any other ideas? like alternates... or non-invasive ways to convert bushing sizes.... or, my Alternate upgrade is a gibson TP-6 or schaller fine tuning tailpiece. Whatcha think... piezo bridge with preamp or fine tuning tailpiece (with new tusq nut, string saver saddles, CTS pots, and bigsby b5 with vibramate)? The latter upgrades set still is cheaper.... Im just torn between having the acoustic ability, or having a better sounding electric.

[/quote'] The LR Baggs T-Bridge is $159 + $89 for the preamp/blend = ($248) Those are the going rate for a piezo bridge and electronics to go with it Not too many choices if you want a piezo tom. or non-invasive ways to convert bushing sizes.... lets see..a metric 8mm = .31496 dia (1/4" + 1/16") a metric 6mm = 23622 dia (almost a 1/4 inch) Can you not... get some thin veneer, cut it into strips to the depth of the bushing hole ,then curl it so it fits into the hole, and tap in your 6mm bushings for the piezo bridge into the Epi bridge holes? Maybe use a bit of white glue. or, my Alternate upgrade is a gibson TP-6 or schaller fine tuning tailpiece. It's your guitar and your coin, so you need to decide. Im just torn between having the acoustic ability, or having a better sounding electric. The acoustic capability using a t-bridge piezo is basically a novelty. Yes you will get an "acoustic" sort of "thin sound" but it is not the same as an acoustic with f-holes or a flat top with a piezo bridge. Besides..it's quite a bit of work converting a guitar over to a piezo..

MichaelE
Cavernman, didn't you say this was the system installed in the Turner's?
carverman
Cavernman' date=' didn't you say this was the system installed in the Turner's?[/quote'] I dunno..it sorta looks like it..but isn't the Turner a semi-acoustic..I mean you have that neat rotating HB in what appears to be a soundhole that has the HB mount in it. I think that for a solid body like a LP, the piezo bridge does add another dimension to the tones you can get from two HB..especially with the Blend preamp. I tried the piezo bridge by itself, and with the blend preamp and it sounded ok as long as you had a humbucker selected. By itself, it sounded "thin". I don't think that the piezo crystals in the saddles pick up the full range of harmonics to make it sound full and rich the way a piezo p_up under the bridge does. (Those are actually picking up the string vibrations through the top and sound better.) FWIW,,I ended up adding a tone control and volume control to mine because the volume was a lot louder and thinner if the piezo was selected alone through the min-toggle switch that comes with the Blend preamp. I don't know if they intended to have the piezo used by itself, in that position of the mini-toggle. It came supplied with a 5 meg control that you could use as a volume control for it..which I ended up doing.
MichaelE
The Turner is a solid hunk of mahogany except for the hole the humbucker is mounted in. No chambers.
Guest icantbuyafender
Im liking the Ghost set by graph tech. It still is alot of coin. In the mean time, CTS pots, bigsby, tusq nut. Were CTS made mini-pots any good? Ive thought about dropping them in since I'd want some extra room when and if i drop in the ghost system.
