SG fan 420
I just ordered a new LP special 2 GT with the v-trem and kill switch, and was wondering if later I should install a floyd rose style locking nut or just locking tuners, or both? Thanx
gearhead
If you install a locking nut you shouldn't need locking tuners. I had a Carvin once with a Floyd Rose and locking nut and it stayed in tune very well.
peeper
You don't want to put a locking nut on an SG, you have to remove a substantial amount of wood from the area where the nut is to fit a locking nut. You will be left with so little wood holding your headstock on it will likely snap under string tension. Locking tuners if you want are fine. And I would have a pro make you a new nut from bone, if they do it right you will have zero tuning issues from it.
